Giclee Prints

The PatsyMair Gallery Giclee Print Process.

PatsyMairGallery offers unique reproductions of selected artwork by artist Patsy Mair. Our high-resolution digital image, archival quality, vibrant inks, fine-art canvas and fine-art papers, a close attention to detailed hues and tones - all combine in a high-quality giclee printing process.

The Giclee Print

The first step in this process is the unique artwork. A first class, high resolution image of the artwork is the next step. Image detail, tones and hues must match the original artwork. After a detailed and delicate matching process, the image is reproduced on a professional quality Epson Inkjet printer. These professional Epson printers use special archival inks resulting in incredible giclee archival prints which are stable and superior in quality.

The print art media has been coated to enhance tones and hues. To further protect this work of art and ensure many years of enjoyment, the giclee print is cured for 24 hours after printing and then sprayed with a protective UV water and scratch-resistant lacquer.

Patsy Mairs Limited Editon Prints

Patsy has chosen to print Limited Editions of her artwork. Original artwork is carefully chosen for reproduction and then Patsy determines the maximum number of prints that will be made of that original artwork. Each Limited Edition piece is signed and numbered when custom printed for the client.

Customized Prints

Giclee print are created only when ordered, allowing customized print sizes to fix specialized frames sizes (limited only by the dimensions of the original artwork - e.g. a 4 x 10 original cannot become a 10 x 4 customized print).

Care of your Giclee Print

Avoid displaying your giclee print to direct sunlight for an extended period. Extended exposure to bright light can diminish the life of the giclee print.

From Wikipedia: Giclée (pronounced "zhee-clay" ), is an invented name for the process of making fine-art prints from a digital source using ink-jet printing. The word "giclée" is derived from the French language word "le gicleur" meaning "nozzle", or more specifically "gicler" meaning "to squirt, spurt, or spray".
